Plain Speak About Internet Marketing...
There are several ways to go about
Internet marketing. Like all marketing, it revolves around you having
something of value that people will give you money for.
On the left under "Hot Resources", I've included helpful links to some
ebooks, newsletters, etc. Each link will take you to either a page here
on this site (where you find a list of resources in that category) or to
another website that contains valuable information.
It is worth mentioning that even though there is BIG money to be made in
Internet marketing there is usually a period of time between starting
and pulling in the big bucks, so don't quit your day job until your
approach is rolling.
One thing you NEVER do as a legitimate Internet marketer is SPAM. Spam
will get you dropped like a hot rock from Affiliate programs and it is
just plain rude in any case.
Here are three broad categories for the net entrepreneur. The links will
take you to a new page with more explanation.
Affiliate Marketing - this
is where you sell other peoples products for a commission. You can do
it through a website or use an e-mail newsletter, called an ezine.
Niche Marketing - this is where
you make an eBook, sell a service or some product that you have
developed or discovered. Lots of money here if you promote it
correctly.
Mall Store Marketing - this is
what it sounds like, a place where there is everything. On the net
people usually search for specific things so you have to go at this
one carefully, but it can be real good.
So, How do you do it?
Remember the 'No Spam' rule? That leaves you with basically two
choices to get your products in front of a customer; opt-in e-mail lists
or search engine submissions. There is a difference of opinion on the
effectiveness of these approaches but I think they both work.
Search engines take a lot of research and cost money. It is not
impossible and there are many tools to help you with it. Some engines
are less expensive than others, many times because they get less
traffic.
Opt-in e-mail lists are generated by presenting something interesting
that people want to hear about and then giving them the choice of
signing up. This does not cost the consumer money. What they give you is
permission to send another e-mail to them with your links to the
products you sell.
There are many established ezines (e-mail newsletters) that you can
place advertising in just like a newspaper. It costs you some money. To

Have a Website
Having your own website is good
in many ways. it gives you a platform to promote your product or
Affiliate links. It is also kind of nifty... tell your friends 'Go to my
site for ...' whatever you offer.
The BEST option for building your own website is the 'Build A Website'
link I have in "Hot Resources". This package includes EVERYTHING and I
mean everything from building to hosting to promoting your site. You do
not have to know HTML or other technical oddities to use this method.
There is usually a monthly charge for web hosting. There are 'FREE' web
hosting outfits but as we know it is rare to get something truly free.
Most free web hosting loads you up with banner advertising and sometimes
the response is slow, the sites aren't backed up and you can even find
stories of domains that are hijacked. Bad business.
Far better to pay a reasonable fee to a legitimate company for the
reliability (I've included a link for hosting sites under "Hot
Resources").
